Recently, the "Announcement of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China (No. 23, 2022)" announced the "Detailed Specification for Silicon Substrate White Light Emitting Diodes for Semiconductor Optoelectronic Devices", "Detailed Specification for Silicon Substrate Blue Light Emitting Diode Chips", and "Detailed Specification for Silicon Substrate Blue Light Emitting Diode Chips" The four industry standards of "Detailed Specification for White Light Power Light Emitting Diode Chips on Silicon Substrates" have been officially approved and released. The release of four industry standards has filled the gap in the silicon substrate LED industry in one fell swoop, which is a high priority given by the country to the industrialization of silicon substrate LED technology achievements. It is also a symbol of the mature application of silicon substrate LED industrialization, and has milestone significance for the development of the silicon substrate LED industry.
These four standards are led by Jingneng Optoelectronics (Jiangxi) Co., Ltd., Nanchang Silicon based Semiconductor Technology Co., Ltd., China Electronics Standardization Institute, China Institute of Metrology, Guangzhou Saixi Standard Testing Institute Co., Ltd., Xiamen Institute of Product Quality Supervision and Inspection, China Optical Optoelectronics Industry Association, Jiangxi LatticePower Semiconductor Co., Ltd., CECEP Jinghe Lighting Co., Ltd Liyade Optoelectronics Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Zhouming Technology Co., Ltd., Shanghai Sansi Electronic Engineering Co., Ltd. and other units jointly drafted and formulated the plan, which will be officially implemented from January 1, 2023.
The independently innovated silicon substrate LED technology achievements have independent intellectual property rights. They have applied for or obtained more than 480 patents around the world, and won the first prize of the the State Technological Innovation Award in 2015. After more than ten years of industrialization process and development, they have been widely used in the middle and high-end markets such as mobile lighting, mobile flash, car lighting, outdoor lighting, and display, among which mobile lighting and mobile flash shipments rank first in the world, The shipment volume in the field of automotive lighting ranks among the top in China and is applied to the head up display of the most high-end aviation aircraft. With the continuous maturity of silicon based Mini/Micro LED technology, it will demonstrate its expertise in high-definition displays, 4K/8K TV backlight, AR glasses, intelligent wearable, in car displays, pixel level car headlights, and other fields, with broad application prospects.
The unique manufacturing process of silicon based LED products determines the different quality control and technical evaluation of their products. These four standards first propose specific requirements for silicon substrate blue light high-power LED chips, white light chips, and white light high-power LED devices, providing a strong basis for product technology evaluation and quality control.
