Recently, the International Semiconductor Lighting Alliance's ISA International Recommended Standard - ISA-S-0025-2024 "Performance Requirements for Indoor Ultraviolet LED Mosquito Repellents" has been officially released.
According to statistics from the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 725000 people worldwide die each year from diseases caused by mosquito bites. To address this, humans have invented mosquito traps, which have evolved from mercury lamps to UV LEDs over several decades. However, the quality of UV LED mosquito traps has also varied.
This standard was jointly developed by LatticePower, Brazil, Belarus and other foreign research institutes, as well as domestic industry chain enterprises and institutes such as Ningbo Dayang, Foshan Optoelectronics, Hanhua Optoelectronics, and Semiconductor Research Institute after 4 years of joint efforts. The aim is to promote the healthy and orderly development of ultraviolet LED mosquito trap application in the field of mosquito trap by determining the technical specifications for indoor ultraviolet LED mosquito trap.
This international recommended standard specifies the parameters and testing methods for the light, electricity, reliability, and other aspects of UV LED light sources used in UV LED mosquito traps, and standardizes the effectiveness evaluation and safety requirements for indoor UV LED mosquito traps.
At the same time, ISA also released a technical report on "LED Mosquito Lamp Technology Report and Related Issues", which was jointly developed by LatticePower. This technical report focuses on the attraction effect of LED on mosquitoes, analyzing the physiology and harm of mosquitoes, public health prevention and control requirements and methods, mosquito attraction/avoidance research, elaborating on the current evaluation methods and application scenarios of mosquito attraction and control effects, and proposing suggestions for standardization work in the next step.
